The order in which the dishes are washed depends on the degree of soiling and the material of the dishes. Then follow: plates and cups made of porcelain, plastic and wooden parts, cutlery and finally pans, pots and casserole dishes according to the degree of soiling. Change rags, sponges, brushes and tea towels regularly
Rags and sponges that are used for rinsing should be replaced every two to three weeks. They may still look clean, but after a long period of use they are a real source of bacteria and germs due to the warm, humid environment. After rinsing, you should always wash them out and let them dry well.
Dishwashing brushes can be cleaned regularly in the dishwasher. Tea towels are also changed after 2 weeks at the latest (depending on how often you use them) or as required. In the washing program for your washing machine, you will be hygienically clean again.
Pay attention to the foaming
The cleaning power of the rinsing water can be recognized by the foam on the water. If there is hardly any foam left, the cleaning power is low and the rinse water should be replaced and / or detergent added.
Do not use too much detergent
A lot helps a lot, is not correct when washing dishes by hand. Because too much washing-up liquid only causes increased foam formation, and the foam does not clean. In addition, the dishes will dry less well. Better: add detergent again while washing up.
It is best to air dry dishes
Simply letting the dishes dry in the air is more hygienic than drying them with a tea towel. Like in the dishcloths and sponges, germs often collect in the cloths, which you can transfer back to the clean dishes when you dry them.
What to do if leftovers in pots and pans have dried or burned on? Stainless steel cookware can be removed with a scouring pad or a stainless steel pan cleaner. Lime stains can also be removed with these tools. However, this must never be used in coated pots and pans. The scouring pad can damage the coating, which can cause detached parts to get into the food.
This is not necessarily healthy. Coated cookware with dried and burnt-on leftovers is best soaked with a lye of warm water and a little washing-up liquid. Once the remains have been removed, they can be removed with a soft dish brush.
The best thing about drying out is that you don’t let it get that far. Either you do the dishes right after you have prepared the food, or you can soak the pots and pans immediately by filling them with water.
